Over the past year, I have been dreaming of hosting a styled wedding. I envisioned this taking place in a vineyard at sundown, the bride wearing a flowy white dress holding a beautiful bouquet. The groom wearing a light grey suit, complimented with a pale pink and white boutonniere. A simple yet elegant tablescape full of fresh florals and, white dinnerware and light colored linens. I spent some time scouring through Pinterest boards and pieced together a mood board with my favorite images and then hopped on my favorite Facebook group, PDX Styled Shoots, and submitted the mood board to see if any vendors had interest in helping pull this off.
Much to my surprise, I received an outpouring of feedback right away! Before I knew it, we had an event coordinator, venue, models, cake artist, calligraphist, invitation suite, bridal shop, and hair & makeup artist onboard, the list goes on! We set a date for April 15th and got to work on planning.
Elise from Keen Events helped me tackle the coordination for this event. When we had trouble finding a suit for the groom, florals, and a stylist - she quickly pulled these missing pieces together and made things happen! Planning a styled shoot is much like planning an actual event, all of the pieces have to fit together just right. I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to have Elise on board for this shoot to help keep me organized and on task. Future brides and grooms, if you are debating on whether or not to hire a coordinator - take my advice, do it. You will be so happy you did!
April 15th came, and so did the rain. As the evening of the shoot approached I knew my vision of a vineyard shoot at sunset was not going to happen. Rachel Downy, fellow photographer and friend who also participated in this shoot, hurried to the venue an hour before our arrival time to try to organize a dry place for us to set up. Between Rachel and the kind staff at David Hill Winery, we were able to gain access to their wine barrel room. It may not have been what I envisioned, but being able to use this space was a life saver and it was SO beautiful.
Once all of the vendors were onsite, we all got to work with the set up. Lauryn of Lauryn Kay Photography and her husband Bob helped hang the dress while Tamara of Poppies & Paisley Floral and Tara of Her Garden Kitchen got the tables set. Once that was complete, we were ready to roll!
A full list of participating vendors can be found at the bottom of the blog. I cannot thank each and every one of them enough for coming together to make this vision come to life!
